After earning his M.Sc. degree in Horticulture and Field Crops from the University of Jordan and his Diploma in the organoleptic assessment of virgin olive oils from the University of Jaén, Spain, Eng. Ibrahim Al-Amad became the head of the olive research department at the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) in 2018. Eng. Al-Amad has also participated in other projects funded by the European Union, such as the FRUITFLYNET project, and in national and international scientific projects funded by USAID and CBI. Eng. Al-Amad is the contact person with FAO for the smart application (Ma’ Al Muzare’ – NARC = with the farmer) related to the section of horticulture crops. He is the deputy leader of the first olive oil tasting panel and a certified trainer for the Olive Farmer Field Schools (FFS) project. His research interests include improving olive oil quality, olive propagation and olive cultivar authentication. He is the representative for Jordan in the International Olive Germplasm Network (THOC) funded by the IOC.
